Dan Brown made it two wins in a day with victory in round 12 of the Racing Hondas Championship at Donington Park as Liam Collins came through from 33rd to an inherited P3 at the end.
As in race 1, Brown led every lap with Philip Wright shadowing him closely throughout to the end.
Rich Hockley finished third on the road after a race-long tussle with Kevin Talbot which ended with latter sadly retiring after their cars collided at the Goddards chicane. Hockley later received a 10 second penalty for his part in the collision which demoted him to P13 in the final result.
Collins, closing fast on Hockley at the line, was thus elevated to P3 ahead of Lucas Oils Driver of the Day James Alford and Ryan Jenkinson who completed the top five. Collins’s impressive charged from 33rd on the grid (a result of his race 1 retirement) also netted a bonus point for the fastest lap as he keeps up the pressure on Brown in the class A standings.
Indeed, as they leave Donington for Brands Hatch’s penultimate rounds next month, Brown now leads Collins by 27 points at the top of Class A.

Meanwhile two second places and a fastest lap (race 1) in one day will go some way to getting the 2023 Champion’s difficult 2024 season back on track…
As in race 1, Jake Hewlett and Paul Taylor headed home the class B drivers in P6 and P8 outright respectively, but this time it was a much closer affair with a nose-to-tail battle between them to the end when A runner Will Murfin was able to split them.
By comparison, things behind were more spread out as Nick Charlier completed the B podium finishers ahead of Dave Buky and division points leader Alfie Jeakins.
With Hewlett and Taylor both ineligible to score, Charlier collected full points in class to move past Tommy Knight – a lap one retirement – into second in the B table. Knight is now tied with Buky for third in the Class B points table…
Meanwhile Ryan Cunningham continued his winning ways in class C with his second victory of the day in P19 overall . It was Cunningham’s tenth class win in 12 races and he now all but assured the C title. He also remains clear in the outright standings with a 33-point advantage over second placed Brown (210 plays 177).
As in race 1 David Lawrence was his nearest challenger and this time got to within half a second of Cunningham at the line. Sam Linssner completed the C podium in P24 outright to maintain his second position in the class standings.
