Callum Houchen has confirmed he will remain on the Racing Hondas Championship grid for 2025 and aims to go for the Class C title.
The 32-year-old from Nuneaton is one of four drivers in contention for third in Class C heading into the championship’s forthcoming Finals Day at Snetterton on 20 October.
That would earn him a paid-for registration into 2025’s championship (Tegiwa is awarding the same prize for the top three in each class).
Houchen said: “I’ve got a new Civic FN2 shell already in build for next season – the intention is very much to go for the Class C title.
“I didn’t drive my current car until the opening rounds this year and it’s been a case of progressively getting more comfortable with it as the season has gone on.
“The new car will have a few upgrades such as a bias valve for the brakes but nothing overly complicated – we also need reliability which has helped me stay in the hunt in 2024.”
He added: “I love the atmosphere of the championship. It’s the little things – kids coming up and asking for an autograph.
“It is a show and that’s a massive thing. It makes you feel like a racing driver. Also no matter where on the grid you are, you always have someone to race.
“The Racing Hondas Championship is really going places and a it’s privilege to be in it.”
Houchen is one of only four drivers to have scored points in all 14 races so far this season and he hopes his consistency can be rewarded with third in final Class C standings.
“I’ve got 20 points to make up on Spencer (Fortag, pictured above) at Snetterton if I want to pip him to P3 but it’s Finals Day and anything can happen.
“The key for me will be qualifying – it’ll be maximum attack in quali and I want the bonus five points for class pole. In the races I’m just going to send it and see where we end up.”
The Racing Hondas season finale on Sunday 20 October is part of organiser Club Time Attack’s huge Modified Live show which is set to attract thousands of modified cars and public to the Snetterton circuit. CLICK HERE to purchase tickets.
