Outgoing Champion Philip Wright this time got the measure of Dan Brown to take the win in the Racing Hondas Championship’s final round of 2024 at Snetterton.
Wright had been thwarted by Brown in the day’s opening race but this time in similarly wet conditions he was not to be denied.
Brown led away after the race was restarted to recover the damaged cars of Duncan Holloway, Will Murfin and Charles Gates following a collision at the Bomb Hole (all three drivers were checked over in the circuit’s medical centre and given the all-clear).
But, as in race 1, Wright found more pace in the wet conditions and was quickly pressuring Brown. He moved past into Riches Bend only to slither wide and give back the lead at the following Wilson hairpin.
It didn’t take Wright long to recover, however, and soon after, through the long Coram Bend, he was able to find a way past Brown before drawing clear for a win that made up for an at-times difficult 2024 season.
Brown took second ahead of Paul Taylor, a sensational third outright in his Civic EP3 to make it two Class B wins in a day.
Fourth to guarantee third in the Class A standings (and the prize of a paid-for registration into 2025’s championship) was Ryan Jenkinson (Civic FN2). Kevin Talbot (Integra DC5) continued his strong finish to 2024 with fifth.
In sixth, Loui Hounsell took another winning points haul in Class B (Taylor was ineligible to score) but it was not quite enough to prevent Tommy Knight taking third overall in the division.
Having taken a maiden Class C victory in race 1, Spencer Fortag added a second win but was only 0.420s clear of second-placed Ed Sibbald at the line. In P3 to make up for an off in race 1 was Sam Linssner who has finished second in the Class C standings ahead of Fortag in third.
