Tommy Knight has acquired a Civic EK he believes can fight for Class A honours in 2025’s Racing Hondas Championship.

The 38-year-old has described the car, which has previously raced in Ireland, as “epic”.

“I flew out there to take a look at it and right there and then booked the ferry tickets to come back over and collect it with the low loader!” said Knight.

“It’s a fantastic piece of kit. I was looking to have an EK built but this car already has the spec and was within my budget so it was a no-brainer.

“There’s clearly been some money spent on it and I’m sure it’s going to be able to fight for the big results.

“We’re in the process of replacing the K-20 engine for a K-24 which will give better torque and we’re going to fit a larger rear spoiler, like the one Dan Brown ran on his EG in 2024.

“It’s also fitted with AST suspension which I think will be a step ahead of some of the others.

“The weight is 960kg so with me added I think we will be right on the limit with the power-to-weight.

“On paper the car is capable and I believe I’m capable, too. I’m hoping we’ll be right at the sharp end in Class A.”

Knight took a pair of wins in Class B on his way to third I the division in 2024.

The scaffolder from Croydon added: “I really enjoyed the season – if you’ve got a Honda why would you want to go and race anywhere else?

“The paddock is very friendly for drivers and where else in club racing can you go and race in front of crowds like that?

“There’s also the new URL touring car championship starting up alongside Racing Hondas in 2025. It’s going to be a really exciting scene to be a part of.”

Knight predicts that testing of his new Civic EK will begin in February.

“I reckon Class A is where it’s going to be at in 2025 – getting some decent seat time before the season starts is going to important.”
