Will Self says he’s aiming to become Racing Hondas Champion at his first attempt at the championship in 2025.

The Warminster racer will enter a self-built Civic EG (K24) in Class A, running under the Watson Gym Equipment banner in deference to his main sponsor.

Last week he shook down the car at the Castle Combe circuit where he has done much of his racing to date – most of it towards the front of the field.

“It was a promising initial test – the pace is pretty close to where we expected already,” said Self, a design engineer for gym equipment.

“The car is in effect a carbon copy of Dan Brown’s car from 2024.

“We’ve raced one another before and we’ve always proved evenly matched.

“I’d say my car is at the same level his was in 2024, so now I need to extract a few bits more but his advantage is seat time.

“We’re good pals off the track on it, but on it we’re rivals – I’m in it to win.”

Brown, 2024’s Class A Champion and overall championship runner-up, predicts Self will be right up there.

“Will is not just a very quick driver but also a good engineer and knows how to turn out a well sorted car – he’ll definitely be one to watch.”
