In a change of plan, Phil Wright will after all continue in Class A of the Racing Hondas Championship in 2025.

The Kings Lynn racer had been expected to enter Class B in the Civic EP3 in which he won 2023’s title, but complications with the car have forced his hand.

Wright explained: “We upgraded the B car to Class A specification as a stand-in at Cadwell Park last year but it was damaged in a couple of offs.

“We’ve since discovered a few things that meant we wouldn’t be able to have it ready in time for the new season.

“So it’s back to Class A in the EP3 I raced for most of 2024.”

Wright and his EP3 became one of the strongest driver-car combinations in Class A as the 2024 season progressed, which ended with him winning the final round at a wet Snetterton.

“I need it to rain more in 2025!” he joked. “Seriously, that’s when our car can get on level terms with the lighter stuff out there.

“It’s all hands on deck at the moment, building the car back up for Cadwell Park at the start of May (this year’s season-opening event will take place on Bank Holiday Monday 5 May at the Lincolnshire circuit).”

He added: “Things didn’t go so well there last year – it’s my home circuit, so let’s treat this as a clean slate and hope 2025 gets off to a much better start.”

Tickets are now on sale for the event at Cadwell Park on Monday 5 May which will include the Racing Hondas and Time Attack UK championships, Drift Pro and the hugely popular Modified LIVE! car show.
